Cinnamon French Toast

Cinnamon French Toast

Ready in: 15 minutes
Yield: 4 servings

3.4 fl. oz (100 ml) milk
1 lemon (zest)
1 packet (8 g) vanilla sugar
4 slices of white bread
2 eggs
1 pinch of salt
1 pinch of ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter

1. Wash the lemon in hot water. Finely grate the lemon zest. Bring the milk in a heavy pan to a boil. Add the vanilla sugar, lemon zest and ground cinnamon. Whisk to blend. Transfer the milk mixture to a large bowl and allow it to cool completely.

2. Beat the eggs with the salt until frothy. Dip the slices of white bread in the milk mixture from both sides. Then dip them in the egg mixture to coat all over.

3. Melt 1 tablespoon of the butter in a large non-stick frying pan until sizzling. Add the slices of white bread and cook over low-medium heat until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Add the remaining butter. Turn and cook the other side for 2-3 minutes.

4. Serve warm. Sprinkle over with confectioners sugar to taste. Top with fresh fruit or drizzle with condensed milk, if you like.
